At present English writing skills of high school students is comparatively poor. There are many mistakes in their compositions and their lack of a written communication ability deserves our attention. Therefore, we should attach importance to their English writing ability as well as their acquisition of knowledge. It is suggested that we s enhance students basic knowledge of language training to help them overcome the common writing mistakes, which is a way to improve their English communication skills and ability and adapt to external communication needs . In this thesis, which is modeled on the English curriculum standards, we combine teaching with experimental investigation to analyze their writing common mistakes and sum up the common points that students have made. We focus on the way in which teachers try to guide students in independent study , and show the three English essay correction modes. In a word ,if we give students a "stage", students experience the process of study, and they will actively participate in the activities. They will enjoy the sense of joy and accomplishment.It is expected that the present study will be useful to a further study of the related topic and it will offer some suggestions for English learning and teaching.
