Autonomous Learning has become a hot issue in educational field in the past twenty years. It has been advocated from pedagogical point of view that learning autonomy is a means of effective learning and a desirable goal of teaching as well. Linguists and researchers have conducted studies in this field and provided various theories. But in China, there have been few empirical studies on the influence of the factors affecting learners' autonomy and even fewer researches of Senior High School students.According to the characteristics of Autonomous Learning, based on the theory of constructivism and connected with New Curriculum Standard for English Teaching in China, this thesis aims to find out the current situation about senior high school students' autonomous learning and teachers' teaching through questionnaires, interviews, etc. By analyzing the factors that influence the students' autonomous learning, the author will go deeper into the ways of classroom teaching and the autonomous learning strategies, and then put forward some direction strategies.Through data analysis, the empirical study and comparison of the results, the author has reached the following conclusion: l)Most of the students' abilities in autonomous English learning can be developed and improved with the help, instruction and supervision of their teachers; 2) The level of autonomy is positively correlated to learning achievement; 3) The students' learning techniques and effects have been greatly improved and more appropriate learning strategies have been used in their language learning, which can lay a good foundation for students' life-long learning.
