Task-based language teaching is a new teaching pattern which advocates in the National Curriculum Reform. Task-based teaching is mainly to set up and complete a task in which the students can acquire the language. This new concept of teaching breaks through the traditional pattern which always separates the grammar teaching and practical application also the meaning and form of language. The paper presents a study on the practice of Task-Based Language Teaching in "Junior middle school attached to NENU" in Changchun under the requirements of National Curriculum Reform in middle school English teaching.The paper first suggests the necessity of adopting Task-Based Language Teaching. The paper then makes a brief exposition of the theory of Task-Based Language Teaching, stressing its function in middle school English teaching. Later the paper makes a research into the practice of Task-Based Language Teaching in my school and finds out that though Task-Based Language Teaching has brought certain benefits to classroom English teaching, there are still a series of problems. Finally, the author analyzes the fundamental causes of these problems and puts forward some practical strategies that may be used in solving the problems.The purposes of this paper on how to carry out the Task-based language teaching are to develop the students' competence of comprehensively using English by researching and appling this teaching method to classroom teaching and to meet the need of the development of the modern society.
