In recent years, as globalization is inevitable and accelerating, English teaching becomes more and more important to the development of China. Vocabulary learning is a major part of English teaching. Whether learners adopt suitable vocabulary learning strategies or not has great impact on their capacity of English language. However, currently, there are not many research achievements on the correlation between foreign language vocabulary learning strategies and foreign language scores. Especially, the research on the correlation between English vocabulary learning strategies and English scores of high school students is far from satisfying. Therefore, this dissertation studies the correlation between English vocabulary learning strategies and English scores of high school students, trying to provide valuable references for high school teachers and students. This dissertation combines theoretical research with empirical study. Based on the literature, the dissertation defines and classifies English vocabulary learning strategies, designs a questionnaire, and lets 102 high school students answer the questionnaires, and then analyzes systematically the correlation between English vocabulary learning strategies and English scores of high school students, trying to provide empirical evidence for high school students to master various vocabulary learning strategies effectively and reasonably. The dissertation consists of five parts. The first part is introduction; which brings forward the research subject, makes clear the research objectives and its practical value, explains the content and research methods and innovative points, and points out the direction for future research. The second part is the theoretical exploration of the correlation between English vocabulary learning strategies and English scores. In this part, the dissertation defines and classifies English vocabulary learning strategies, reviews the researches on the correlation between vocabulary learning strategies and language scores in and abroad China, points out that English vocabulary learning strategies have both positive and negative effects on English scores through influencing learners'interest, study efficiency, and other aspects of English learning. The third part is the research design. At first, the objectives of the survey and survey objects are settled. Then, A questionnaire is designed to survey 105 students of a high school in Changchun. The software SPSS12.0 is used to carry out Pearson Correlation analysis statistically. The fourth part is the results of the statistical analysis. The results show that English vocabulary learning strategies have close relation with English scores, that the strategies that have obviously promotive effects to English scores are self-control strategy, self-supervision strategy, classification strategy, context strategy, guess strategy, exercise strategy, note-taking strategy, etc., and that the strategies that have distinctly negative effects are mechanical-remembering strategy and translation strategy. The fifth part is the conclusions. Five revelatory conclusions are drawn. First, at present, vocabulary learning is still an important and difficult part of high shool English teaching. Second, in the process of high school English teaching, attention should not only be given to teachers'instruction, but also be given to students'voluntary study. Third, as the English vocabulary learning strategies adopted by high school students are not always right, strategies that have positive effect on English scores should be instructed to them. Fourth, high school students should be encouraged to use various kinds of vocabulary learning strategies. Fifth, communication and cooperation among high school students and high school students and their teachers should be strengthened. In addition, as restricted by the quality and quality of survey objects, many English vocabulary learning strategies defined by this dissertation have not passed the statistical tests. The correlation between those strategies and English scores should be studied further in the future.
