In recent years, with the development of curriculum reformation, the teaching aim of English in the high school, which is gradually clear and perfect, is to show students how to use the language that they are learning and what's more, is to develop the creative ability to apply the language eventually. On one hand, language teaching needs necessary tests to assess. On the other hand, scientific tests can feedback fair and external information to language teaching. As one type of integrated subjects, Cloze Test can train and examine students' comprehensive application ability of English effectively. So not only teachers but also students generally feel thorny in teaching and learning it. The aim of this paper , which is based on Error Analysis , is to find out and solve the problems that students had with Cloze Test and to help them make progress; furthermore, with the results of the study above , strive to instruct the English teaching in the future.The whole paper consists of six parts.In part one, the background, the positive effects, purposes and research methods of the paper are presented.In part two, we will try to come to the previous conclusions of Error Analysis , including integrative theories, practical values, and steps of Error Analysis as well. Here we will also deal with the definition and the classification of Error Analysis. To sum up , this part is the academic part.In part three, the brief introduction of Cloze will help you know classifications, characters, advantages as well as disadvantages.In part four---the practical part, we will analyze the main testing points of Cloze Test. In addition, we will make every effort to study and analyze the errors students make in order to find out the reasons for their errors according to the materials collected in the daily teaching or by testing .For example, We will point out the main problems during the course of examination connected with my students' performance in the examination of 2005.In part five, we will analyze the characteristics and forms of this examinations according to the current situation of the cloze in NMET and discuss its future trends based on the recent examinations. And we will propose some useful teaching methods, teaching revelations and its future development according to the author's many years of teaching experiences in the first front. Some useful methods, skills and mental measures in finishing the cloze examination are pointed out to students.In part six conclusions are drawn in the end.
