| Discourse Grammar Cloze Test is an integrative test which can objectively reflect students’ comprehensive language competence. For this reason, this thesis Is going to discuss the effect of applying discourse analysis method to the teaching of Discourse Grammar Cloze Test. It is hoped that this study will shift the senior middle school English teachers’ attention from the traditional approach to the discourse-oriented approach. The paper is on the one hand to explore the effective approach to improve students’ comprehensive language competence, and on the other hand to train students to develop the awareness of discourse consciously.This research mainly focuses on two questions: 1. Can the discourse analysis awareness of the students? be fostered through the application of discourse analysis in teaching discourse grammar cloze test? 2. Can the students? ability of dealing with discourse grammar cloze test be improved through learning and applying discourse analysis in discourse grammar cloze test? The subjects are 111 students of Class 1 and Class 2 in senior one from No.5 Middle School in Hohhot. The research tools used for collecting data are two questionnaires, pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire, and two tests, pretest and post-test. The data of the questionnaires and the tests are collected and analyzed by SPSS Statistics 19.0. The pedagogical experiment is applying the knowledge of discourse analysis to high school English teaching of discourse grammar cloze test and leading students to learn and use the knowledge of discourse analysis to do the discourse grammar cloze exercises and tests. The research results show that applying the knowledge of discourse analysis to high school English teaching of discourse grammar cloze test can effectively foster the discourse analysis awareness of students and their ability of discourse expression, and can efficiently improve the students? comprehensive language competence as well as their ability of dealing with discourse grammar cloze test. |
