Vocabulary-learning is a very important part in English learning. However, most of the Grade Seven students find it difficult to master so many English words though they have learned English for many years. In a way, vocabulary learning has partly blocked their way to their English further study.This thesis first reviews the previous relevant theories. Guided by these theories the writer observes and communicates with the Grade Seven Students in order to find out what kind of attitude they have in vocabulary learning. What's more, the writer has also done a survey among her current 100 Grade Seven Students in Suzhou Lida School. The survey is designed to find out how the Grade Seven Students learn vocabulary. Based on the information the writer collects and the result of the survey, four reasons have been put forward which can explain why the Grade Seven Students have problems in vocabulary learning.At the end of this thesis, some countermeasures have been proposed for teachers in their English vocabulary teaching.
