During the process of teaching senior English, the writer has found it difficult for senior students to learn English vocabulary. Since 2005, the New National English Curriculum has been carried out. In this new set of textbooks, there is a remarkable increase in vocabulary, which adds to the students' learning burden as they have no good condition for English learning. Besides, senior English teaching is faced with limited time and large quantities of vocabulary. Therefore, the writer feels it meaningful to do research on how to improve vocabulary learning efficiency.This research was based on the analysis of vocabulary learning strategies both at home and abroad. The writer combined the vocabulary learning strategy training with daily teaching, taking the students from the two classes in the charge of the writer as the research targets and using the approach of literature reviewing and questionnaires. Thus, the writer learned whether the training of English vocabulary learning strategy had effects on students' strategy awareness, how different the effects on the students were and what effects the training had on boy students and girl students, etc.The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is Introduction, in which the writer gave the reason for this research and talked about what the research means, the aim of the research and the approaches the writer used. In addition, several terms related were defined. The second part includes Chapter One, Two and Three. Chapter One is about the current researches on English vocabulary learning strategy training. By comparing those researches, the writer put forward the characteristics of the research. In Chapter Two, the writer offered the theoretical basis of the English vocabulary learning strategy training. In the third chapter, the principles, the patterns and the procedures of the training were talked about. The third part is the core of the thesis, including Chapter Four, Five and Six. In Chapter Four, the writer conducted a survey to learn about how the students are using the vocabulary learning strategies. In Chapter Five, the writer introduced how the vocabulary learning strategy training was designed and carried out. In Chapter Six, the writer conducted a second survey and analysed the figures. The last part is the conclusion, in which the writer made a conclusion about the training research plus something remaining to be improved. The writer also made some suggestions which may be helpful for future vocabulary learning strategy training.The research showed that students of different levels were affected more or less by the training. In addition, the English vocabulary learning strategy training was helpful for students to improve not only their activeness and efficiency of vocabulary learning but also their strategy awareness.
