| Vocabulary learning is a basic part of language learning and crucial to the second language proficiency. But vocabulary learning is the most difficult learning task for most students. The use of vocabulary learning strategies can improve the students’vocabulary learning efficiency. In the thesis, it is viewed that learning English vocabulary makes great contribution to the improvement of English study. In order to improve the students’English level, qualified acquisitions of the vocabulary easily wipe off the biggest obstacles in listening, speaking, reading and writing. So the author made a study on English vocabulary learning strategies training in the junior middle school.In order to solve the problem of "time-consuming and poorly-efficient" English vocabulary learning, the study focuses on the training of four vocabulary learning strategies (VLST) to help students memorize vocabulary. These four strategies tend to stimulate the students’imagination and their interest in English learning, and finally enlarge their vocabulary.The research on VLST lasted six months from February,2011to July2011. The author used instruments of questionnaire and vocabulary tests. The results of the questionnaire showed that the students in EG and CG never received any vocabulary learning strategies. Results from their vocabulary pre-test did not show any significant difference. And then the author chose four strategies to train students in EG. They are word classification strategy, the image or resemblance strategy, synonym and antonym contrast strategy and word-formation strategy. After training, students’efficiency of memorizing vocabulary was improved and the EG outperformed the CG significantly in the post-vocabulary test. |
