The scholarship of teaching of faculty is the systemic and special acquirement and knowledge on teaching, which means faculty have a deep understanding of teaching, a good grasp of professional knowledge and educational knowledge, capabilities in teaching activity and achievements from teaching practice and teaching research. Study on the scholarship of teaching of faculty can provide references for the development of the scholarship of teaching, effective teaching and teaching quality improvement. Its value is to extend scholarship concept, help faculty to understand teaching rationally, lead them to reflect and study teaching scientifically, enrich faculty teaching theoretical basis, realize faculty specialization and quality improvement, instruct faculty teaching practice and ensure universities to finish teaching tasks. At present, the current situation is: understanding of teaching is superficial, professional knowledge and educational knowledge is poor, teaching capability is low, effect of teaching practice and teaching research is bad. Such situation derives directly from the situation of promoting it, which is that universities and faculty ignore the importance of the scholarship of teaching, the awareness of promoting it is weak; related university institution is imperfect and faculty focus time and energy on scientific research, the input of promoting it is inadequate; the level of the scholarship of teaching is comparatively limited, the capability of promoting it is low; quality of teaching and teaching research descends, the effectiveness of promoting it is poor. The main reason that causes this situation includes: Society treat scholarship in narrow sense; direct improperly and evaluate one-sided. Universities neglect the scholarship of teaching; evaluate and train it unilaterally; lack of the atmosphere and conditions to support it. Faculty ignore the scholarship of teaching; duty competition deplete and sacrifice the scholarship of teaching; lack of study pre-service and training in-service; successful experience is limited, the motivation of promoting it is weak. To promote the scholarship of teaching of faculty, universities should raise the recognition of the importance of the scholarship of teaching; formulate and implement the system to encourage faculty to promote it; develop the training to help faculty to promote it; create the atmosphere and conditions to support faculty to promote it. The faculty should enhance the awareness of promoting it; study and grasp teaching knowledge; cultivate teaching capability; carry out teaching theory research and deal with teaching practice exploration.
