Teachers' professional identity is an important aspect of their teaching career.The reason of paying attention to this subject is that it not only contributes to promoting teachers' professional development and the quality of education but also improves the stabilization of teachers' team and the development of education.There are many domestic researches on teachers' professional identity in primary school and secondary school in this field,but that in high school are still absent.Teachers in adult higher colleges are different with teachers in primary schools,secondary schools and common higher colleges in educational objects,teaching objective and teaching method so that the professional identity of teachers in adult higher colleges may be different with teachers in primary schools,secondary schools and common higher colleges.Based on this basic hypothesis,I select 188 teachers in three adult higher colleges in Shanxi province as my research object and used the research methods,such as visiting and talking,asking and doing the questionnaire which have formed a preliminary research as current situation of the teachers' professional identity in adult higher college in Shanxi province and had an analysis on the result in order to find the problems existed in it,after that the author had a deep discussion on the causes to these problems and propose the suggestions which are targeted and could promote and improve the level of the teachers' professional identity in adult higher colleges in Shanxi province.This thesis is composed of five chapters:Chapterâ… :Introduction.This part expound the genesis,analyse the theoretical and practical value of this research,define the main conceptions,and clarify the object,ideas and research methods of this thesis.Chapterâ…¡:The theoretical basis of teachers' professional identity.This part mainly expound the contents of self-identity theory and social identity theory.Chapterâ…¢:The analysis of the current situation of teachers' professional identity in adult higher colleges in Shanxi province.Taking the understanding and introduction research areas' background as basis,this part investigate the current situation of teachers' professional identity in adult higher colleges in Shanxi province from six aspects such as professional knowledge, professional emotion,professional ability,professional value,professional expectation and professional will.The result shows that on the whole,the teachers in adult higher colleges in Shanxi province indentify their career.They can treat their own career correctly and have a deep emotion on it.They also have a strong will to become an excellent teacher in adult higher colleges.But the present environment at college and teaching job make them feel that their own value can not be realized as a teacher in adult higher college.So,their professional will is not strong,and the intention of leaving job is obvious.On the other hand,from the different personal background of these teachers,we can see that with the promoting of the title and wage in each month,the teacher' professional identity level is also improving,and among the teachers with different educational background,the doctors' professional identity level is the lowest,among the teachers with different ages the professional identity level of the teachers aged 30 to 40 is lower compared to other sections of age.Chapterâ…£:The analysis of problems and causes of the teachers' professional identity in adult higher colleges in Shanxi province.According to the research,there are many problems in the teachers' professional identity,such as the professional mentality of teachers in adult higher colleges in Shanxi province is not balanced,the level of their professional value is low,the sense of professional identity of the doctor teachers is weak,and their willing of teaching is needed to be strengthened,the teachers have an adequate understanding of what qualities a teacher in adult higher colleges should have,but they are not qualified and still needed to be enhanced,and so on. Investigating the causes,it is the result of social factors,college environmental factors and teachers' personal factors which affected together.Chapterâ…¤:The countermeasures on improving the teachers' professional identity level. According to the problems identified in the investigation,on the basis of the reflection of the current situation,this part probes the countermeasures on how to improve the level of teachers' professional identity in adult higher colleges in Shanxi province from three aspects such as society,colleges and teachers.
