Human is the unity of body and soul. A complete person who has both heart and body, brain and hands, sense and sensibility, knowledge and activity should develop in all-round way of moral, intelligent, physical and art as well as knowledge, sensibility, will and activity, and also develop harmoniously in physical and mental. As human is the purpose of education and body is an important dimension of human and its life, paying attention on the human body is the inevitable mission of education. Meanwhile, our body can grow and develop healthily only when it relys on the guidance and nurturing of education. A great number of educational issues are related to body. The body, like the wedge, is deeply tumbled in education process all the time, and participates in the generation of educational significance. Education activities only can be carried on by involving body, and education effect only can be embodied through the reflection of body. However, due to the traditional thought of " complimenting soul and depreciating body", body has been ignored and absent in education for a long time. People who always get to know body from the perspective of maintaining health and understand it from the views of physiology and anatomy neglect its educational meaning in schools. On the premise of physical confrontation, education practice always regard the control of body as the starting point, which has resulted in the separation of physical and knowledge, as well as heart. Education cares more for the cognition and thinking, but neglects the existence of body and its perception, experience and activity. The educational meaning of body don't arouse enough attention both in educational research and educational practice. Since 1980s, body has gradually become the research focus in many fields. A lot of academic fields which concentrate on body have appeared, such as body philosophy, body sociology, body aesthetics. But education which should care for the human body most is turning a blind eye to it.So it can not help to ask, what is the location of our body in education? How should education concern about the body to make human develop better? Therefore this paper attempts to take the body as an angle of research. It begins at the understanding of body, and then analyzes body in education history and education reality, revealing its problems and reasons, and tries to answer the question how education pays attention to the human body. The aim of this thesis is to make the body return to the fields of education, in order to realize the genuinely harmonious and all-round development of human.This paper includes three parts:Part one: trying to understand body. This part first analyzes the body ideology in foreign philosophy and Chinese traditional culture, and inquires into the connotation of the human body, which is that the human body is different from the flesh, it is the base of human life, the connection of the human and the world and the display of selfhood. The end of this part expounds the farther connotation of body in four dimensions of physiological, psychological, philosophy and social.Part two: the human body in the field of education. In this part, the author analyzes the thoughts of prefering body in foreign and Chinese education history, and surveys the body actuality in current education, pointing out the fact that the human body is defiladed and absent in real education, and then analyzes the reasons. On the basis of above, this part explores the educational significance of the human body, namely the human body is essential for education activities, education effect, education process, education methods, education resource, relation between teachers and students, and the life education.Part three: reconstructing the contemporary education on the basis of human body. In this part, the author probes into how to concern body. The author explains this topic from five aspects of establishing a holistic view of body, strengthening the physical education, labor education and art education, concentrating on the emotion and experience, rebuilding the relation between knowledge and body, and putting the humanized discipline management into practice.
