TV And Daily Life Of The Northwestern Rural Community

Along with the television becoming popular gradually in the village, the village society is also entering the time of electronic communication from the time of oral communication. It initiates many changes inevitably that the television influences in the near heterogeneous village society, brings many effect. By what "status" the television enters the village; How does the countrymen understand and use television------the modern media; What effect does the television bring to the communicationpattern and the authority structure of the village society; Which changes does the local folk custom culture have with the coming of the television ? These questions about "localization" are worth studying very much.This article takes participant observation method and depth interviewing of ethnography method as main research technique. After half a year's investigation in acommunity of the Han nationality in the northwest area ------Dapin village in Gupocontry, try to demonstrate the changes happened in the village society in the above aspects under the widespread of the television.The study found that television as a kind of the earliest luxury goods which builds "reputation" and "status" appears in the non-farm families in the country and it brings of the television in the village. During the widespread process television acts as the diversified identity ; The widespread of television accelerates the fading and the disintegration of the dorfgemeinschaft , the villagers are becoming more and more independent, the authority of the village is decaying ceaselessly, moral order and tradition rule is broken, the villagers are more and more heterogeneous; At the same time , television is clearing up the exist base of the folk-custom ,there is a tendency that the behavior of watching television itself will be ritualized.
