The full name of CMET is Chongqing Matriculation English Test.CMET is the ordinary Chongqing college recruitment of students' unification test(college entrance examination).The CMET is a large-scale test,with the teaching and testing syllabuses' requirement,and examines test-takers' language abilities.From 2001,with the new curriculum carryingout,the national majority of provinces and cities autonomous region has entered the test-design autonomously time.Since 2005,Chongqing(CQ) has entered the test-design autonomously time.CQ is always looking for the most appropriate test mode to satisfy regional characteristics.During this process,those testing items,such as testing property,testing construction,score weight,have changed a lot.Those changes will make a big impact to test-takers,test-designers and teachers.Therefore,doing some research on the CMET is full of theoretical value and applied meaning.The authenticity study has become one of core topics in language testing.It is an important factor in the testing usefulness,which influences the teaching and testing a lot. The authenticity degree is related to the test-takers' performance.Therefore,based on the, this paper tries to make some analysis about the authenticity.It not only some theoretical does exploring on different dimensions of authenticity,but also does some suggestions for test-design in terms of research results for future. The research purpose is the authenticity study of reading comprehension materials of CMET.The research object is the reading comprehension materials of CMET,from 2005-2008.In this paper,the research uses qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze reading materials characteristics,such as the length,the sentence is long,new word glossary,information distribution,legibility,subject,literary style.The paper makes the materials comparison,between NMET and CMET in these four years.During this process, the paper takes the authenticity assessment proposed by Bachman(1996),and uses the reading skills theories proposed by Alderson(2000),in order to do some authenticity analysis on the characteristics of information input and expected responses.Research findings:from 2005 to 2008,the materials of reading comprehension in CMET accords with the two syllabuses,and its authenticity could also be acceptable. However,there are still many problems in CMET,and it needs more time to solve in the future.
