Under the effect of modernization and globalization, as well as the need of China's industrialization, more and more Chinese peasants moved into city. Some peasants of them have their new generations in city, who are generally called—the second-generation immigrant workers. They become main immigrant workers corpus now. Since they spend a long time living and learning in city, their life style and ideological concepts have been impacted by the Modern urban civilization greatly.As the pattern of choosing a spouse selection, the criterions of spouse-selection can be influenced and restricted by the external social environment. The criterions of spouse-selection of the second-generation immigrant workers have been influenced by the modern urban culture too. This article finds out that their modernization lies in the following two sides. Firstly, they attach importance to the personal quality, capability, whether have the same interests and characters and pay little attention to the factor of politic and family. Second, they take whether the spouse have the permanent urban residence certificate, good economic conditions and strong social relations into account. This article claims that the criterions of spouse-selection peasants of the second-generation immigrant workers are experiencing the transformation from traditional to modern people. With the influence of the transformation and the modernization, their lifestyle, value and role-identification were different from their parents'. They have already formed a consumption habit and life style of citizens', and so on. In a word, they have strong desire to integrate into city and little desire to live in country, so they want to marry with a citizen with good economic conditions and strong social relations.Through sorting interview and questionnaire materials, the research showed that, it is difficult for the second-generation immigrant workers to find their ideal spouses. Namely, it is hard for them to realize their spouse expectations in reality. There is a significant gap between expectation and reality. This article analyzes and explains the reason of this gap from Social break and Social exclusion. And it deals with the society appeared break in the process of modern transformation, and this break affected communication ways between different hierarchies, especially the way from lower class to upper class. There are two reasons to explain why it is difficult for the second-generation immigrant workers to realize the transformation from traditional to modern one. One is that the institution, economy, culture and social network caused trouble foe them in selecting a spouse with permanent urban residence certificate. Another is that the traditional spouse-selection criterion of their parents brought great pressure to them.
