Comparative Research On Small Forward Players Between CBA And NBA In The 07-08 Seasons

As the rapid development of the world basketball sport and the continuous improvement of the technological and tactical level, basketball games are more intense, more exciting, and more comprehensive on the personal technology requirements. Modern basketball sport is, with a sense of innovation, in the same direction of"seeking high wisdom, being physically strong, aggressive and indomitable, active and initiative, quick and agile, complete and accurate"and in the development of different schools, styles and various plays. The games are characterized by good physical strength, high speed, high confrontations and high skills. The results depend on many factors. An important one is the balanced development of the basic law and the basketball special characteristics such as the balance of offensive and defensive, the importance of physical strength and intellectuality, the unity of individuals and the group, the perfect combination of the height and the speed, inside and outside, the skills and the tactic. The small forward, as a team's main scorekeeper, plays a more and more important role in the competition. Therefore, the level of the small forward are often directly related to the whole team's fate. The literature data indicates that the research on the offensive and defensive current of small forward players in Chinese Men's Basketball Team is still rare.This paper attempts to observe the NBA and CBA videos in the 07-08 seasons, compares Chinese excellent small forward players with the foreign in different techniques mainly from the offensive skills and the defensive ones, tries to find out the shortages of Chinese small forward, and offers a theoretical basis to the bringing-up and training of the backup small forward players for Chinese Men's Basketball Team.In the course of the study, the writer adopts literature, expert questionnaire, statistic video observation, comparative analysis, mathematical statistics and other methods to make an analysis on CBA small forward players in the 07-08 seasons. The results are as follows: (1) Compared with NBA best small forward players, CBA players have less offensive techniques, mainly manifested in: less shot near or in the Central Zone; lower shot percentage with the interference or at the close press of the defenders; less inside offensive ways and weaker striking power; poor ability to offensively pass and scramble the basketball; less flexible in the feet movements; poor ability to catch the basketball inside; less coherent in the movements after catching the ball; poor breakthrough ability; poor horizon and judgment; worse awareness of breaking and passing the ball.(2) Compared with NBA best small forward players, CBA players have less defensive techniques, mainly manifested in: slower feet movements, worse awareness of making up for the defense, looser press and weaker offensive defense near or in the Central Zone; negative defense for the far area and covering less area; less aggressive threat at the time of catching the basketball; lower ability to press closely or interfere with other's shot; lower ability to steal the ball, block shots and to defend the non-ball players; more times to miss the opposite obviously; non-equilibrium ability to catch the market rebounds.
