The paper studies quality structures of coaches in professional tennis teams from 22 provinces by literature review,field work and mathematical statistics.In order to know the current situation of quality structures of the tennis coaches,find out problems,raise some countermeasure,and give references to the development of tennis coaches. Conclusions are drawn as follows:1.Age and education qualification of tennis coaches in China are rational, mainly consist of the young and middle aged coaches.Their professional titles are not high in common,primary and secondary coaches are a large group and advanced and national coaches are less.They are rich in teaching and sports experience,and a teaching group mainly consisting of the young and middle aged which is dynamic and rich in experience has been built.2.Coaches in professional tennis teams perform well in morality.They have clear and sustainable moral identity and work seriously and practically.Athletes are their first in work and the coaches perform confident.3.In knowledge structure,coaches in China have intensive knowledge of tennis,general in basic,and less in supplement.The total knowledge structure appears imbalanced.4.In ability structure,coaches in China have a total self-evaluation high in training,management,teaching and interpersonal relationship, and low in innovation,research and self-improvement.5.Empirical teaching plays a more important role that scientific one in Chinese tennis coaches.Nearly half of the coaches solve problems in training through their experience in training and competition,only a quarter of them ask scientific research personnel for help. 6.More than 40%of coaches hope to attend coach training class for further study,reading,thinking and ask scientific research personnel are secondly.Suggestions are as followed:1.Improve the system of management,competition,and stimulus for tennis coaches,and raise their ideological and moral standards.Optimize the structure of coach group and improve the quality of tennis coaches,in order to enhance the training level.2.Raise the research standards to coaches,and make special requirement of publish to coaches of different titles.Add scientific publish requirement into evaluation standards to improve tennis coaches' research ability.3.Select excellent coaches to study abroad,meanwhile employ foreign coaches to teach in China and require coaches and researchers to do some assistant job.4.Increase the number of tennis coach courses rationally to satisfy those tennis coaches.
