Purpose: It is the problem which need to be solved urgently that the resistance is increased, but the skills of the athletes in rowing are not affected simultaneously. During a long time study and research, combining with the reality of the training, the resistance plate has been made for the resistance increasing by our members, thus the results and resistance of the numerical simulation is discussed in this paper.Method: The CFD software FLUENT6.2 is used in this paper.Results: The results is affected by the computational areas and discretization. Compared with the wind tunnel experiments,the computational results of Resistance is not correct in the angle attacked of 50-60°,and the same as that of Lift in the angle attacked of 30-40°,and the others are reasonable. Firstly, for the angle attacked of 0-20°,the results of the numerical simulation are not different among the different turbulence models, and the S-A models is the best choice. Secondly for the angle attacked of 30-40°,the difference is significant between the different models, which is major in the size of the vortexes and the distance from the plates. though the RNG k-εmodel is better than any other ones, it is difficult for convergence. Thirdly the results of the attacked angles of 50-60°are not accepted, and the SST K-ωmodel is much better for the attacked angles above 70°.What's more, the pressure coefficient is affected by the computational area, so it is needed the ample computational area according to the ability of the computer. For the resistance plates, the variety of the velocity is much obvious than that of the attacked angles. The resistance is referred to the square of the velocity. When the angle attacked is increasing, the trends of the velocity increasing are more obvious. If the velocity is not large enough, the effects of the resistance training is not fine. The pressure distribution is affected by the attacked angles.Conclusion: The computational results about the resistance and lift are correct according to the wind tunnel experiments. From these, the physical references parameters are determined. The results about the computation on the resistance and life are correct, which can be applied in the training. Under the original skills, the training is much fine in the training.
