| Yachting is a water sports which the athletes rely on natural wind to control the sailforward and a race pace in the provisions site. Yachting has no mechanical power, the sailwing with winds as power source to promote sailing, so the sails aerodynamic performanceis one of the most critical performance of sailing. And numerical simulation become one ofthe main methods to research the sail aerodynamic performance. Modeling in the numericalsimulation is an essential prerequisite. Same model with different modeling methods, willhave greater impact on the workload of the numerical precision and solving. Therefore it isvery necessary to study the modeling method in the numerical simulation of aerodynamicperformance.the research object of this thesis is sails of470Class, according to the modelingproblems of numerical simulation of aerodynamic performance of double sails of a yacht,this paper have used the CATIA which has the advanced hybrid modeling technology formodeling geometry. GAMBIT is used for dividing geometry into mixed meshes. And ICEMis used for unstructured meshes division. The aerodynamic performance of the mainsail andforesail is simulated and analysis by using FLUENT with different modeling methods, andthen analyzes the pros and cons of the two modeling methods. Through the study we foundthat:1) modeling the470yacht sails: Before modeling, we should clear the objects, clearwhich parts must be considered and created on the model, and clear which parts should notbe considered due to little effect of its calculation, so as to simplify the model. Whenmeshing, weighing the differences of the calculation accuracy and time-consuming causedby the mesh quantities/density/element order, and then we can define the quantities, densityand element order to establish different models.2) Numerically Simulate the sails flow distribution of the interacting between470Class: This research is based on the same sail parameters, but the modeling methods is different. The flow distribution is Three-dimensional and viscous. It is Calculated theaerodynamic of the Sails based on these conditions3) Exploring modeling methods: Explored the advantages and disadvantages of thedifferent modeling methods, found the modeling methods that is fitter for numericalsimulation of aerodynamic performance of Sails of470Class than others. and then,proposed a modeling program that is suit for researching the fluid dynamic performance ofyacht sails.The modeling methods of numerical simulation of aerodynamic performance of yachtwith more sails about the Olympic Games competition has been discussed, for the nextnumerical simulation of aerodynamic performance of yacht sails to lay a solid foundation,and then, proposing a set of guiding opinions that is fit for athletes manipulating sail in ourcountry and providing supports for improving the technical and tactical level of the sailing. |
