International Understanding Education tries to intrigue people's love for peace and learn how to live with others harmoniously through education in order to joint every effort to get out of the problems the globalization has brought. This paper is going to integrate International Understanding Education with curriculum which is the basic point of elementary and secondary education. It will study the detailed meaning of International Understanding Education in elementary and secondary education by making clear the concept of "understanding" and stating the history and status in quo of International Understanding Education. International courses and activities in some related international organizations and primary and secondary schools in other countries will be analysed in detail. This paper will contrast Shanghai Fushan Foreign Language school to other organizations and countries to offer inspiration to Chinese international understanding curriculum.This paper includes five parts: introduction, the concept of "international understanding curriculum", analyses of the related courses of international organizations and other schools, analysing how Shanghai Fushan Forein Language school implemented international understanding curriculum, the difficulties we have met and the prospect of it.Introduction part states the origin of the paper and status in quo of this field. In this part, the features of this paper, its innovation and research methods are presented. Chapter 1 mainly explains the concept of "understanding" and development of "international understanding education", then defines "international understanding education" in primary and secondary education. This part will study the features of "international understanding curriculum" by introducing the relationship between education and curriculum. Chapter 2 will explore several international understanding activities implemented in other countries which were the curriculum studies implemented by international diploma programme, a case study of Britain Oxfam education program. Chapter3 will present the achievements by taking Shanghai Fushan Forein Language school as an example. In the end, this paper will analyse the difficulties we have met and will try to offer some advice. The illumination from other countries and developed areas in our country may be helpful to the better and more deeply development of our international understanding education.
