With the development of globalization,all countries in the world are involved in the study of the theory and practice of Education for International Understanding(EIU),and the government through various forms promote the implementation of Education for International Understanding(EIU).According to the basic idea of the English curriculum standards of compulsory education which was formulated by the Ministry of education,in the process of English learning,enhance mutual understanding and love to traditional culture of this nation,accept the whole human advanced culture,cultivating students' ability and sensitivity of cultural differences,improve the ability of cross-cultural communication,to enable students to have preliminary consciousness of international understanding.The core framework of the key competences of Chinese students has been officially released,which requires to cultivate the students' international understanding,the global awareness and the open mind,and pay attention to the global challenge and the common destiny of mankind.The English textbook which was published by the people's education press has the dual nature of the tool and humanity,and it is an important tool to cultivate the students' humanistic quality,thinking ability and cultural consciousness.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the content of education for international understanding in this English textbooks.First of all,according to the relevant research conclude the analysis framework of education for international understanding,and divided education for international understanding into three major themes international issues including three dimensions:international challenges,international culture,international connections.I choose the junior English textbooks which was published by the People's Education Press in 2013 as the research object.In this paper,research methods are literature and text analysis.At the beginning the paper give the overall presentation of the concept of analysis and selection of the content of education for international understanding in the textbooks and the to analyze the distribution and present way of the three major themes,and combined with the analysis of specific case.At last analyzing the existing advantage of materials and puts forward some suggestions.Secondly,analyzing the existing advantages and problems of the content ofeducation for international understanding in this textbook.There are many advantages including the rich content and the theme distribution widely;the content is close to the students' life experience and the showing way are various;the content of education for international understanding pay more attention to the comparison of different cultural background.Its shortcomings include: the selection of the textbook content which is related to that three topics remains to be improved;excerpts present more attention on the generality of human culture and pay insufficient attention on the difference of culture;textbook selection have a tendency of male centered,showing a certain degree of gender discrimination;too much emphasis on the textbook knowledge and language skills,ignoring the cultivation of students' practical ability.Finally,aiming the shortage of education for international understanding in junior middle school English textbook of the People's Education Press and in order to permeate the concept in practice of English teaching better,the author give two levels of thinking and recommendations from the textbooks compilation and teachers using and then bring inspiration and reference for the compilation and use of English textbooks.
