Study And Design Of The RPG Instructional Game For Moral Education

Instructional games is a computer game software for certain instructional aim that has definite educational purposes,provides the game scenario for player,brings entertainment and enjoyment to the player. It allows the learner complete the construction of knowledge in a pleasant scene set by the game,reflects the philosophy of constructivism which emphasize learner-centered.Based on the research of domestic and abroad educational games,the author analyzes the problems of moral education existing in primary schools, the author points out the necessity of developing game-based educational resources for moral education.Firstly, the author gives an overview for educational games, defines the concept related to instructional games. Meanwhile, the author points out the characteristics of RPG games, as well as the general process of developing the instructional RPG games.And then, the author discussed the research and development of the moral instructional RPG game software from three aspects:the theory, the design and the realization. The author introduces their guiding role in developing the RPG instructional game software.In the part of design, The author investigates the understanding of the traditional festival of China in primary school, determines the content of the game. And then based on the content, the author finishes the instructional design, provides basis for the developing of moral education instructional games. Mainly, it includes the game style, the structure of instructional games, the roles, the interface, the interactive features, the reward and punishment mechanism, and ultimately a game script.In the part of realization, based on the game script, the author realizes the game named"Travels of Eight country"by using RPG maker software. It based on the history and the background of the eight main festivals and its custom in china.
