China is a big country with lots of poems and poetry Teaching has a long history. However, as time goes into the 21st century, poetry teaching is not laid stress on any more. Reading of poetry, especially writing of it, goes far from our school life. It is very regrettable. The paper makes a deep exploration on the problem which is met during the teaching of poetry. It intends to make teachers and students, schools, even the whole society realize the importance of poetry teaching, which have a powerful influence on people's development, the expansion of school culture and passing on of Chinese traditional culture. The purpose of doing this is to make the poetry teaching in the new era break away from the negative influence of instant culture and non-quality education. "Although the wind is strong and waves are big, walk leisurely in the yard." With the reform of New Course Concept, rich resources and superior teaching tradition of poetry, "things come to their lives in spring." If so, poetry can regain its life and grow strong. To achieve the purpose, I made an investigation on current poetry teaching of two junior middle schools in Baotou and analysized the deep reasons. At the same time, combining my direct experience from teaching, I proposed a strategy, which is to create relaxed environment, put continuing educational system into effect and set a concept of long-life education to improve teachers' quality; a strategy, which is to stimulate students' interest by setting a classroom with passion and teaching with poetry; and a strategy of improving teaching methods: (1) sensing the beauty of rhythm by reading and half understanding; (2) tasting the beauty of language by weighing words and sentences; (3) experiencing the beauty of artistic conception by putting oneself in poets' position, imagining and learning; (4) appreciating the inner beauty of poetry by questioning, discussing and cooperating; (5) realizing the beauty of time and space by extending and achieving mastery through a comprehensive study; (6) experiencing the beauty of creating by the combination of reading and writing and starting publication; (7) enjoying the beauty of poetry's meaning by developing activities, competing and playing games.The proposal and practice of the above strategies is aimed at discussing poetry teaching with people of the same occupation, changing the situation of current poetry teaching which is bleak, old, mechanic and stiff, and creating the lively and strong air of poetry teaching, so that a new prospect of poetry teaching is expected to come out, that is, "faced with the sea, spring is coming and flowers are blooming".
