| The role of the sports community played in universities is in no way insignificant.By means of documents, surveys and mathematical statistics, this paper has investigated the sports communities from 12 universities in Sichuan, with a view to making a research on what the sports communities in Sichuan now looks like, what factors restrain their development, what should be done accordingly and so on.The investigation shows that these sports communities concerned are characterized by abundant extracurricular activities, exerting hobbies and strengths, developing the health of mind and body, training social adaptability, instilling the idea of lifetime sports, promoting the development of physical education on campus and carrying out the quality-oriented education system.At the same time, the author makes some basic conclusions as follows.1. The status quo of the sports communities in Sichuan universities is that with much spontaneity and little prohibition, the sports communities here have gone through fast development and diversified their sports items for the past five years but are intermingled with the good and the bad.2. It is because of imperfect managing system, inadequate attention from leadership, insufficient publicity, lack of equipment and funds for development, few arrangements for experience exchange and unsolidified mass foundation that encumbers the development of the sports communities in Sichuan universities.3. According to"Concerning some Suggestions about Strengthening and Improving the Communities of Universities"promulgated by Central Committee of the Communist Young League, in order for the reinforcement and betterment of the sports communities in Sichuan universities is to, on the one hand, actively support community activities and vigorously work for community development and on the other hand, to strengthen the management for students'communities and direct them to develop in a healthy way.4. For a sustainable development of the sports communities in Sichuan universities, we must fully realize the importance of, the general requirement of and the primary task of strengthening and improving university students'communities. We should not only actively support the healthy and constructive activities to be launched in university students'communities, but also earnestly guide and manage them, gradually perfecting the development system of university students'communities. All of these are definitely what we should adhere to, for they are just the requirements of the document released by Central Committee of the Communist Young League.Based on relevant theories, policies, regulations and some successful operational modes from other universities, this paper further brings up following pertinent countermeasures about how to manage and develop the sports communities in Sichuan universities. 1. We should strengthen physical education and rightly help students establish a sense of sports. 2. We should be clear about the objective of management and conscientious in the censorship of the sports communities. 3. We should push forward the management of communities, improving them in a scientific, organizational and standard fashion. 4. We should establish an incentive system where attention goes to the cultivation and development of the sports communities. 5. We should attach importance to grooming the backbones in the sports communities. 6. We should expand the ways of publicizing the sports communities. 7. We should feasibly try to solve the problem of funds shortage and difficulty in locations application. 8. The related departments should pay more attention to the sports communities and correspondingly provide professional instructors. 9. The development of the sports communities should be listed as a part of the campus cultural construction.
