The thesis An Inquiry into Attitude to Oral Error Correction in Classroom Teaching at Senior High School, using questionnaires and interviews, explores the attitudes of students of different English levels towards oral error correction in classroom teaching. Based on the five-question model by Chaudron , the questionnaire is designed to ask five basic issues "whether error correction is necessary ," "what needs to be corrected," "when the correction is proper" and "how error correction is done " and "by whom error correction is done". Ninety-eight of the questioned students are from the Secondary School of Jiamusi University, Heilongjiang Province and ninety-four of them are from No. 1 Senior High School of Jiamusi, Heilongjiang Province.The thesis consists of the five parts :Chapter One sketches out the thesis and the plan of the dissertation..First it presents a general account of the study of error and error correction. It focuses on the introduction of the study of experts and scholars at home and abroad anout the defination of error and error correctrion.Chapter Two shows the process of the inquiry .Chapter Three is the analysis about the data..The data shows that three of the questions have nothing to do with stuents'levels.And how well students study English influences the other two.But the result of the interview plays an important role in classroom teaching. Chapter Four is the discussion connected with the five questions .Chapter Five is the report of the application of the result to the classroom activities .In this part the suggestions on when correction is given and how to correct mistakes are put forward.
