Conversation Method changes the process of teacher-ask-and-student-answer approach to English language teaching that the traditional method has been following. This new method may exert a tremendous impact on the students, who used to be passive answerers, and now to become active questioners. Students assume the role of master, explorer and discoverer in the learning activities. Their potential competence for learning/acquisition is fully displayed during such a course of learning. The conversation method is an effective way to promote and heighten the students'abilities of communication, which is the ultimate purpose of English teaching.English teaching process is one of both teacher and students'activities that requires the teacher and students to cooperate with each other to complete meaningful interactions in the language communication. Questioning is the core of conversational teaching, and raising questions in class proves to be the best way to make the teacher and students think and communicate in the second language. Proper questioning is an important way of helping the teacher to guide students to think actively and to develop students'abilities of cognition, analysis and creation. The author of this essay tries to find out the common problems in teaching English nowadays in junior high schools, to analyze the contents and features of conversational method and to explore the model of conversation method in junior high school.
