For a big developing country, the role of education is extremely significant. With the growing importance of women's status, the role of women's education is becoming more and more important. It is said that there is women's education since the beginning of human society. Although there is women's education in ancient China, there is no formal school education for women. After the opium war, based on a series of unequal treaties, many western missionaries came to China and established some missionary schools for girls. Due to the weak position of women, the missonary school for girls emerged and became a significant part of missionary schools. Inspired by that, Chinese people began to concern about women's right in education and its own value gradually. Then Chinese women's school education boarded the stage of history slowly and became one of the originators to the changes in social values and to the women's liberation movement.In this paper, the study is on the missionary school for girls set up by Western missionaries under the protection of the unequal treaties after the Opium War. Literature is used as the main method. An in-depth study has been done to analyze the historical development of missionary school for girls in the late Qing Dynasty. In the paper, the author has analyzed the creation and rising of the missionary school for girls in the late Qing Dynasty and its characteristics in different periods, discovered the rules of its development, concluded the experience of that school and demonstrated its influence to modern society and the development of modern women's education. This study can provide reference for our current foreign educational exchanges. Therefore, the author used it as the basis to propose some suggestions for foreign educational exchanges in women's education.This paper can be divided into four parts: Chapter One introduces the reason for the choice of the topic, the research methods and makes a literature review to the studies at home and abroad. The inadequacies of these previous studies are listed. Chapter Two demonstrates the creation of missionary school for girls in the late Qing Dynasty. First the historical background of this period is analyzed. Then the process of its creation is concluded. Finally, the basic form and characteristics of missionary school for girls at this stage is described. Chapter Three demonstrates the rising of missionary school for girls in the late Qing Dynasty, introduces the conditions at this stage and describes the characteristics and the state of its development. Chapter Four discusses the impact of missionary school for girls in the late Qing Dynasty, including the impact to the changes in Chinese society and the influence to the development of Chinese women's education.
