According to the development of informatization and internet technology, more and more people have recognized the importance of distance education. Distance education is a kind of traditional education reform. It provides people for more opportunities to learn. It becomes an effective model to build the learning society. With the prosperous development of distance education in China, there are some disputes about the relationship between distance education and traditional education. One point is that distance education is more advanced than traditional education. Consequentially, it will replace with the traditional education. Another point is according the instruction method to guide the instruction of distance education. The extremism views are all go against to the development of distance education. Although there are some difference of the instruction between distance education and traditional education, the relation of them is not simple substitution or negative, we must find out the commonness and the difference of them, make them complement each other's advantages, promote our country's educational pattern to better development.The methodologies which has been used to research and collect date in this thesis are as follows:literature review, content analysis, questionnaire survey and interview. According to reviewing academic books, journal and news related to distance education, the author made up a questionnaire about the differences between traditional and modern distance education in the existing education system. The questionnaire was deployed in two groups:the students who join into the distance education or traditional education. Furthermore, the author utilized analytical software SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions) to analysis the data which was collected by the questionnaire, then, compared the inter-communities and differences about distance education and traditional education. In this dissertation, the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method which has been extensively applied in economic field is used in the method to education field. It calculated the interviewees' statistical degree of satisfaction about distance education and traditional education. Finally, according to the data analysis, the researcher concludes the major findings of this study and points out the directions for the future study for developing.
