| The implementation of English quality education in secondary schools aims at emphasizing on developing students'innovative and practical ability. According to English Curriculum Standards, students'language using ability includes: student language skills, language knowledge, emotional attitudes, learning strategies and cultural awareness. English assignment is an important part of classroom teaching; it is the supplement of classroom teaching.Therefore, the English assignment should promote the development of students. But a lot of junior high school English teachers give students homework like: reciting, copying, and repeated exercise and so on. Mechanical memorization and dull written homework bring about some bad effect, students hate English homework and have no interest in learning English. So how to change students'attitude"want me to do" into "I want to do" is a topic for teachers to consider.Based on this background, the writer reclassifies some English homework design and evaluation methods according to some researchers'idea, apply and use some in teaching, the purpose is to demonstrate whether various English homework assignment can change the negative attitude of students towards homework, whether it can increase the interest in learning and improve the learners'academic grades. In the experiment, Class Two is chosen as the experimental class, Class One is the controlled class, two classes received the same language course, and the experimental class students were given innovative homework, while the controlled class students were still given the traditional assignments. At the beginning of the research, the writer conducted a survey on the present situation of English homework in No. 39 Middle School with questionnaires and interviews among 120 students and 18 English teachers, and also had a pre-test to evaluate the experimental and controlled class students'English level .At the end of the experiment, the writer conducted a survey by questionnaire in the experimental class students to obtain their attitudes towards the reform of English assignment after nearly a semester's experiment. Two classes were both given a test, through the comparison of the two results, the writer intends to prove the hypothesis is correct.The results show that through the application and practice of various English homework assignment, students'negative attitude towards English homework has been changed and their interest in learning English has been inspired or stimulated. Through the application and practice of various English homework assignment, students'grades in the experimental class have been improved. |
