Bodybuilding, as a fashionable and elegant sport embodying profound culture, has been becoming favored and accepted by modern university students, and been popularized gradually in colleges and universities. At present, along with its popularization in the country, the sport of bodybuilding enjoys much popularity in Nanjing colleges and universities. Nevertheless, how can we use the existing teaching resources of bodybuilding in Nanjing colleges and universities so as to promote the development of bodybuilding in Nanjing colleges and universities? This is an important problem facing the administrators and sport educators in Nanjing colleges and universities.To deal with the above-mentioned problem, this paper, with all the Nanjing colleges and universities that offer bodybuilding courses as its subjects, made a comprehensive investigation by questionnaire, interview, literature and statistical analysis, aiming at coming up with feasible solutions to use the current bodybuilding teaching resources efficiently in colleges and universities. With increased bodybuilding courses which give full play to the cultural factors in body building, the university students'comprehensive quality will be enhanced, the school culture promoted, and the social value of bodybuilding achieved.According to the survey, we can arrive at a conclusion that college leaders lack an adequate knowledge of and pay not enough attention to bodybuilding teaching, thus resulting in financial embarrassment in this sector, which in turn prevent the students from pour high enthusiasm in body building study. We still have a long way to go so as to make the full use of the course resources by developing it to a greater depth, to design and publish corresponding course book, to improve the level of teaching, and to provide more opportunities for learning and retraining. Teachers can employ only a few varieties of techniques needed for this course in class teaching, and do not have a high level of scientific research. Most of the students enrolling this course cannot acquire the fundamentals and basic techniques as expected. The in-class learning and after-class training are not combined together as to produce a better teaching result in this course. We are expected to develop our knowledge of the body building resources in Nanjing and build a sound system of training and competition which is in close relation with the teaching in class. Exchanges in the form of competitions among various colleges are still not enough to spawn a pleasant atmosphere of body building culture.
