With the intense development of globalization, cultural communication happens more frequently than ever before; meanwhile, the universality and difference between diverse cultures turn to be increasingly distinct. Traveling between different cultures, a strong capability of intercultural communication (IC) is deeply needed; what behinds this ability is a kind of international understanding sense, based on a set of tolerate, multiple and understandable international societal values. Effective international understanding education (IUE) is applied to cultivate a kind of valid intercultural communicative sense and skills. As the mainstream pillar of IC, values basically determines the behavioral modes applied in intercultural activities, and plays a spiritual role in the process of application and promotion of IUE.This thesis explores an effective IUE from both theoretical backgrounds and practical requests, whose nature is a type of intercultural communication education mode, with a set of values system stressing symbiosis of multiple forms. Taken values as a key line, from an perspective of IC, the thesis tries to discuss the features of effective curriculum of IUE. However, because of its universality and diversity, developing applicable and specific curriculum for IUE becomes more difficult. While, to integrate the idea of IUE with the current curriculum is also rationale. Consequently, the thesis takes the training mode of Teaching Chinese to Learners of Other Languages as an example, specifically from the perspective of one of the core courses, Chinese Culture and Intercultural Communication, combining with the features of IUE, and tries to explore the necessity of the course of IC and characters of the related educational modes.The innovations of this thesis are as follows:from the perspective of intercultural communication, it tries to interpret effective modes of IUE, and tries to endow a motive understanding of values within the IC horizon, which makes the recognition of values to be more concrete, applicable and international. Meanwhile, it discusses the curriculum models of IUE focusing on curriculum design and application; furthermore, compared with curriculum of teaching Chinese to Learners of other languages, it stresses the significance of the sense of IC and multiple values system of IUE.
