Professional identity of teachers is a complex of teachers'positive cognition, experience and tendency for their profession or within their occupational role. The research f professional identity of teachers'can provide relevant information for our national administrative departments to make teacher policies or provide the basis for schools to make teachers'management rules or regulations, which is based on the realization of teachers'professional development, professional values, roles values, professional sense of belonging and professional behavior tendencies.The research on professional identity of teachers in rural primary school are not only to achieve this objective, but also provide a good inspiration for the appropriate career development or career management of rural teachers. It can also guide the schools to better understand the professional needs of teachers and provide better career development platforms for them. At the same time, it can also guide teachers to better understand their own. Another important objective of this study is to promote community-wide action to give our teachers'career development more healthy and rational environment.The focus of this research is to understand the status of professional identity of teachers in rural primary school. It is based on the questionnaire survey, supplemented by interviews, conducted with random sampling selecting 300 teachers in 19 rural primary schools of four counties in Hunan Changde area to investigate.Findings are as follows:In general, rural primary school teachers have high occupational identity, but low recognition of the role values.Professional identity of teachers in rural primary schools was significant different in gender. Compared to the male teachers, the female teachers have higher recognition of their occupation. There are also obviously differences in the professional identity basing on different ages. Different length of teaching career in rural primary school teachers are significant differences in identity. Different positions of teachers'may cause a significant difference. There is no obvious difference in professional identity of teachers which is caused by the differences in education, job title, income level, location of school background factors. This passage has given analysis on teachers'general features in primary school and analysis on the reason for the difference in professional identity existed in sex, age, school age. And much objective and constructive advice about how to enhance the occupation identity of primary school in rural areas has been given.
