ObjectivesTo identify the current situation of college nursing students' sexual attitudes, sexual behaviors in Suzhou, to provide a scientific base for optimal implementation of sexual health education, to further explore the affecting factors of the college nursing students' premarital sexual behaviors, to be served as a database of the youth's sexual education.Methods1.Sample:All three-year-program nursing students in Suzhou Health College enrolled by the College Entrance Examination.2.Contents: Questionnaire "The Sexual Physiology and Sexual Psychology of College Nursing Students in Suzhou" is designed, which consists of the following aspects:①personal details of the respondents;②sexual physiological status;③sexual attitudes;④sexual behaviors;⑤sexual knowledge and education situation;⑥other relevant factors.3.Methods: With the method of the stratified cluster sampling, college nursing students from grade one to grade three in Suzhou Health College are required to answer questions about sexual attitudes and sexual behaviors by self-designed questionnaire.A related training is conducted prior to the survey, aiming to facilitate the procedure. To guarantee the reliability and authenticity of the survey, students are separated by classes and required to complete the questionnaire on the spot anonymously after confidentiality have been assured. The questionnaires completed by the students will be secured into a locked box which will be brought back to the researchers.4.Data entry and statistical methods: EpiData3.1 input raw data, two-time entry and logical troubleshooting are employed. SPSS13.0 statistical software is used for statistical analysis. Concrete analysis is as follows:①sexual physiological status: The age of menarche or spermatorrhea is statistically described, t-test is applied to analyze the differences between genders, and analysis of variance is applied to analyze the differences between regions.②sexual attitudes: indicators of sexual attitudes are statistically described in the questionnaire.χ2 test, rank sum test or t-test, analysis of variance are applied to analyze the differences of college nursing students'sexual attitudes among different genders, class types, grades and students source.③sexual behaviors: sexual behavior indicators, such as masturbation, hugging, kissing, touching, heterosexual contact and abnormal sexual contact, are described statistically,χ2 test, rank sum test or t-test, analysis of variance are applied to analyze the differences of college nursing students'sexual behaviors among genders, class types, grades and students source. Logistic regression is applied to locate the main affecting factors about the college nursing students'premarital sexual behaviors.Results1. The college nursing students'sexual physiology: girls' menarche at the age of 13.89±1.78 years old, boys' first spermatorrhea at the age of 14.86±1.41 years old, female's sexual physiological development age is earlier than male's.2. The college nursing students'sexual attitudes: The majority of college nursing students hold a scientific and healthy attitude toward menarche or spermatorrhea. College nursing students'sexual attitudes are relatively independent. 54.1% of girls and 56.3% of boys have had experience of being in love with someone .The proportion of students from the countryside, towns and cities who have had experience of being in love with someone is 49.5%, 61.8% and 60.0% respectively, that is, it's lower in countryside than that in towns and cities. The average age of puppy love is 18.23±2.08 years old in students from countryside, and 17.65±1.98 years old from towns and 17.33±2.27 years old from cities. The average age of puppy love in students from cities is earlier than those from countryside. The average times of falling in love with someone in students from countryside are 1.46±0.72 times, from towns are 1.64±0.80 times and from cities are 2.49±1.69 times. The average times of being in love with someone in students from cities is more than those from countryside and towns. The proportion of all respondents holding "Yes" and "As long as it does not affect study, it should be OK." views to " the attitudes of love " accounts for 80.6%. The students from pure girl-classes hold a more active attitude toward love than the mixed classes. 28.3% of students report having a fixed male or female friend currently, and three students report having several male (or female) friends at the same time. On average, the students from pure girl-classes have more male or female friends than those from mixed classes. As the grade advances, students'attitudes to love is more aggressive, and the proportion of students being in love with someone is higher, and the average number of male (or female) friends is more. Most college nursing students don't exactly know about masturbation. 11.8% of students think that masturbation is absolutely harmful to the body, 18.8% of students believe that occasional masturbation is harmless to health, 68.4% of the students do not know whether masturbation is harmful, and 1.0% of students think that masturbation is absolutely harmless to the body. Comparatively, male students recognize more negative effects of masturbation than female students.3. The college nursing students'sexual behaviors: It is shown that 10.1% of the students have experienced masturbation.The incidence of male students is higher than that of female students'. The age of first masturbation of students from the city is younger than those from rural areas. Some students have experienced excessive masturbation. The proportion of students who have experienced hugging, kissing and caressing is 62.8%, 45.9%, 30.5% respectively. Overall, the incidence of marginal sex is comparatively high in the students from cities, pure girl-classes, and senior classes. 10.7% of students have had sexual intercourse. The percentages of male students and female students having sexual contact are 12.5%and 10.6% respectively. Sexual intercourse behaviors are more common in the students from pure girl-classes, senior classes and the families which annual income exceeds RMB 200,000. 23.6% of the students didn't take any contraceptive measures when they had sexual intercourse. Furthermore, 10.9% of them have had unanticipated pregnancies, and the percentage of unanticipated pregnancy is higher in students from towns than those from countryside and cities. Some students have the desire to "be in love with someone", "wear heterosexual clothing", and have wished or actually exposed the genitals in front of the opposite gender", etc. Some students have abnormal psychological phenomena, such as: "homosexual love", "wearing opposite sex clothing," "having the urge of exposing the genitals in front of the opposite sex", etc.4. The factors affecting the college nursing students'premarital sexual behaviors: In this survey,sexual behaviors are taken as dependent variables,and on the basis of correlative variable selected by single factor analysis,a backward multi-factor logistic regression analysis is employed.Variables are selected by the standard 0.10 and removed by the standard 0.15. Research results show that the affecting factors ranking from the most significant to the least significant are as the followings: " the critical person of your sexual psychological development"(X39),"having experienced be in love with someone "(X9),"the current relationship status"(X11),"students source "(X4) , "having experienced masturbation "(X14),"having been exposed to sexual education"(X29)," father's impact on sexual psychology"(X37)," grade "(X3). In addition, students who have marginal sex, such as hugging, kissing and sexual caressing, have higher incidence of sexual behaviors.Sexual behaviors and marginal sex are positively correlated.5. The situation of college nursing students'sexual education: 81.7% of respondents have had access to sexual knowledge. The second and third year students have more opportunities to access to sexual education than the first year students, and students from cities have more channels to obtain sexual knowledge than those from countryside and towns. As far as source of sexual knowledge concerned, formal school education ranks the top, 43.0%, followed by books and magazines, classmates and friends, films, and parents, accounts for 35.8%, 15.2%, 5.5% and 0.5% respectively. 97.7% of the students think schools should provide sexual health education. More students from pure girl-classes hold a positive attitude toward sexual health education than those from mixed classes. Students from cities and towns holding a positive attitude towards to sexual health education are more than those from rural areas. College nursing students concern most about the adolescent health, and followed by contraception and family planning, physiology and pathology of menstruation or spertamorrhea, anatomy and physiology of sexual organs, masturbation and sexual dysfunction accordingly.Conclusion1. Majority of the college nursing students hold a healthy and independent attitude toward sex. However, there're a few students having sexual disturbance and even wrong sexual morality. School should focus on sexual health education and promote teacher's role in the development of students' sexual psychology.2. College nursing students have a relatively higher incidence of sexual behaviors. Meanwhile, they're not aware of sexual safety, and they experience unanticipated pregnancies. Furthermore, some students have abnormal sexual behaviors.3. The main affecting factors of nursing college students' behaviors are: the most significant person who influences the sexual psychological development, having been in love with someone, current relationship, source of students, having experienced masturbation, being exposed to sexual knowledge, the impact from father's behaviors, and grades. In addition, students who have experienced marginal sex have a higher incidence of premarital sex. Positive correlation exists between the two phenomena.
