The rural migrant workers as the modern society's cultural immigration, the adaptation after they entered city not only reflected in the economical aspect, but also in the cultural aspect. Under this premise, the author utilizes the imagination of Sociology and the vision of communication, to use the perspective of Communication Sociology, so as to inspect the social adaptability of the rural migrant workers. First of all, in the view of Semiotic, the rural migrant was endowed with a character of symbol historically, with which to research the identities and the role definitions of the rural migrant workers. Thus, we can conclude through analysis that their characteristic of symbol is shaped by the society.Secondly, with the symbol interaction theory, this article discusses the difference and the relationship in the definition of the rural migrant workers using the theory of Communication and Sociology. The reason is that the symbolic interaction is not only a theory of Communication but one of Sociology. Consequently, we should take their dual roles into consideration——identifying the roles in the perspective of"others"as well as"ourselves".And then, this article analyses the adaptability of rural migrant workers through the concrete definition of situation, which includes modernization, urbanization and civilization. And in different definitions, it is taken differently such as"the unemployed migrant","frenzied hunt for work in cities","industrial workers", etc. Then, this article argues about the proposition which has been brought up and explains more: firstly, the adaptability of the rural migrant workers is not gained stereotypically, but in concrete definition of situation; secondly, although the contextual definition is genuine, the social adaptability is not passive but active; thirdly, their cultural adaptation is rooted in the understanding of three stages of cultural adaptation. Among them the most steady one is that the rural and the urban civilization get the balance. At this stage, the third culture of rural migrant workers is easily to form to strengthen their identity, resulting in the stagnation of culture exchange, and then prevent the civilization of rural migrant workers because of the barriers between rural and urban culture. Finally, intergenerational spreading has a great influence on the social adaptability of rural migrant workers. At last, this article returns to the start. The culture communication is a medium of rural immigrant workers'issues. On one hand, it realized rural migrant workers' self-dissemination and improved their social adaptability; On the other hand, as a medium of civilization, it provides a mirror for people who live in countryside to understand the urbanization, which can increase the rural migrant workers'adaptability. However, Communicational Sociology is only from one angel to see the issue; it can't solve all the problems of rural migrant workers'social adaptation. Instead, it just explores a new way to solve the social adaptability of rural migrant workers through multidimensional analysis. |
