Michael W. Apple is an excellent world-class leading figure and important representative in progressive education and critical education theory.He has many works referring to the relations between education reform and culture,the relations between education reform and power. In addressing school issues, Michael W. Apple puts it in the entire visual field of socio-economy, politics and cultural power,has a keen insight into the source of the current issues of American schools and the possible impact, and critisizes profoundly and powerfully.The school view of Michael W.Apple school formed closely linked to his unique personal experience, social background and academic sources. He has a extremely wide range of academic sources, including phenomenology, Marxism traditiona, ethnographic research , and the essence of post-modernism and post-structuralism. In addition, he inherited critically from Dewey's democratic politics of progressivism and the tradition of academic criticism.Michael W. Apple believes that the school is not only the production sector,but also reproduction body; not only cultural institution, but also economic institution; school products and reproducts the inequality of social culture, economy and ideology. To better explain the school view of Michael W.Apple, this dissertation demonstrates from three aspects: school and culture,schools and economy,school and politics. Among them, the relations between school and culture concerns with the renaissance of school and culture, the commodity nature of school and culture, cultural forms of resistance, resistance to cultural forms; the relations of school and economy refers to school and economic control, school and economic requirement,school and market;the relations between school and politics involves with school and political socialization, school and the state role, school and identity politics.The school view of Michael W . Apple has the nature of criticism , development,direction, democracy and politics, this unique school view provides a reference for studying education issues and theories in our schools. Yet,it has some defects of broad consciousness and fatalism.Although the concept of schools Michael W.Apple has some flaws, some issues involved in the school views can be found in our documents, such as education market,assessment system.Also,Michael W.Apple has always stressed the need to cultivate a critical spirit of the citizens, has been working to build democratic education,caring the interests of vulnerable groups,which are worth learning and reference.In reaching the problems and theories of school education, people carry on the critical reference given by Michael W.Apple making our education towards greater democracy.
