A Research On The Present Situation Of The High-Level Track And Field Teams In General Universities In Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region

This paper is aimed to study and analyze the present situation in the construction of the high-level track and field teams in general universities of IMAR , with the purpose of identifying the existing problems and then propose corresponding recommendations. The research and the analysis are implemented by means of literature, questionnaire, on-the-spot observation, expert consulting, Delphi, mathematical statistics and logic induction. The findings indicate that (1) the target set by the high-level track and field teams in Inner Mongolia general universities is low; (2) being a latecomer, its overall level is comparatively low, with no top athletes; and there exists a great gap between teams in IMAR and those high-level teams from colleges and universities of other provinces. (3) owing to the fact that there are few influential institutions, it's hard to attract excellent athletes from the inside and outside of the Region, resulting in high-level athletes loss.(4) despite the team being well-organized , the college authorities have not attached great importance to the construction of the track and field teams .(5) the age and the professional title of the coaches are suitable for their job, most of whom have got bachelor degree, There are, however, few full-time coaches, while the coaches available have received little training. Reasonable calculation of coaches'workload is needed. (6 )the academic records of athletes are not satisfactory; the conflict between learning and training remains the major factor affecting their academic learning. (7) in the four colleges and universities in Inner Mongolia, the budget for training mainly comes from specialized appropriation. Without athletic training center, winter training is hard to guarantee. (8) the selection of athletes, the teaching capability of the coaches and the short of funding for training are the main factors affecting the improvement of technical capability of high-level track and field athletes in colleges and universities. To deal with the problems mentioned above, the following suggestions are put forward.:(1) make the target clear; (2) make the school authorities take the issue seriously, (3) expand recruitment channels; (4) handle well the relationship between training and learning; (5) promote the reform of coach appointment system so as to build a team of high quality coaches; (6) expand funding channels.
