With the rapid development of science and technology, and accelerated process of globalization, the General Education of social science is constantly strengthened and enhanced. The human organizational structure, the knowledge to the basic laws and the corresponding construction, and the general judgments and presumption, are gradually understood, recognized, and accepted by more and more people. They have turned out to be the solid basis of idea and reliable rules of conduct for people to show sincerity, collaboration, and win-win to each other. Relying on the filtering, refinement, organization, and spread of the general knowledge of this social scientific theory, American higher education gradually shows prominence on the vitality of social coordination and the strengthening of the nation's power, offering a thought-provoking example for the whole world to learn from and utilize.This thesis is targeted to the courses of General Education of social science in American universities. With the ecological concepts of educational society and country-specific thematic framework and model, it has systematically straightened, analyzed and structured the basic pattern of General Education courses in American universities in the field of social science.In addition to the brief illustration to the basic concepts of the General Education of social science in American universities and the relative theories, it has traced back its historical structure in detail, researched and studied the basis construction and the major features of the current structure of it. The thesis has explored and revealed the important functions of it to the cultivation of the international citizens, optimization of the higher education entironment, and the strengthening of the nation.In the final part of the thesis, it has concluded the successful experience and the enlightenment from the General Education of social science in American universities. It has offered its own diagnostic views and solutions to the current problems existing in the courses of China's general education of social science.
