Classification discussion thought is one of the important mathematics thought methods,which has been attached importance to by many experts,scholars and teachers.Nowadays many questions in the college entrance examination are carried out on the basis of classified discussion thought,so it is necessary to study the application of classified discussion thought in function teaching of senior high school.In this paper,we first introduce the related knowledge of classification discussion thought including basic principles,common types and general steps.Then,we discuss the existing problems when students are using classified discussion ideas.that is,students have cognitive barriers to classification discussion and do not know how to choose the classification facing the questions,and easily confuse and repeat the classification.At the same time,we put forward corresponding strategies for the existing problems.Finally,we study the application of classification discussion ideas in the teaching of exponential function,logarithm function and power function through the cases respectively.At the same time,we discuss the application of classification discussion in trigonometric functions by concrete examples.So that this can cultivate students' thinking of divergent,consideration and organization in order to to improve students' rigorous logical thinking ability,promote students' interest to learn mathematics and cultivate their innovative consciousness.
