Learning approach is an important field of study in the western education psychology research, is a branch of the research of study theories, and has an effect on the development of education research and practice. Reviewing the western education research and the development course of experiment, and we can see clearly an important turning on the research that is from "teaching" to "learning". Scholars in the field of education research pay more attention to the theory and practice of learning approach. The western scholars have many research theories about the learning approach earlier, so far researchers have rich achievements on the study of learning approach and it is widely applied in practice, this provides reference for our research related.With the steady development of education reform, the gradual promotion of curriculum reform and the development of lifelong learning concept, various learning disabilities is appearing, so the research of Learning approach becomes an important entrance to solve learning problems. Tao xing zhi once said: "the way of teaching according to the learning"----- teaching is adapted to the development of students and students'learning, then teachers should pay attention to student's Learning approach. However, in teaching practice, many teachers do not master the theory of learning approach systematically, the study way, and there is a deviation in understanding of learning approach, and it is has caused a lot of problems in teaching. So the research of western learning approach has realistic significance to teaching in China.This study reviews the research of western learning approach and its application, discusses its significance to our teachers'teaching, with expectation of providing benefitiful guide for our teachers.The article is divided into five parts:The first part is introduction, the western scholars obtain rich achievements on theory and practice of learning approach and they are widely applied in the teaching process, and the related research is still in the stage of exploration in China, many teachers know these theories very little, thus caused some problems in teaching. Obviously, the research of western learning approach has the theoretical and realistic significance. The second part is development history of the research of western learning approach, the development history can be divided into four stages: the preliminary research phrase; the systematical research phrase; the practice verification phrase and contemporary study stage. It traces back to all phases of the contents and characteristics of the theoretical study, and the feature of research process.The third part is the application of western learning approach in various fields, the theory of western learning approach is applied in education teaching, family education and psychological counseling, etc, and obtain some achievements, the author cited cases in order to study how to apply theory to practice.The fourth part is the research of western learning approach and their significance to teaching in China, and discusses how teachers to update learning concept combined with the theory of western learning approach, and how our teachers guide teaching by these theories. The fifth part summarizes the characteristics of this thesis and puts forward the prospect.
