The Paradigm Evolvement Of Sociology Approach In STS Studies

STS, that is the abbreviation of the science technology and society, is a comprehensive intercourse discipline which concerning the correlation between science technology and society that rising in recent years. As for STS basic theories study, there are numerous and complicated complications, among them, the philosophy, historical and sociology are three main research paths. This dissertation tries to tidy up the basic skeleton of the STS development from a sociology approach, through the analysis and comparison between the sociology of science and the sociology of technology. As a result, it leads to the STS study by Constructivism that is the trend of STS.The full text is divided into six chapters. Chapter 1 analyzes not only the significance and methods of this study, but the innovation. Chapter II is the beginning of the text. On one hand, this part clarifies the basic concept and research of STS as a subject. On the other hand, it introduces the development of STS so that we can give a theoretical support for the analysis of STS. Chapterâ…¢focuses on the progress of sociology of science in order to analyze the transform between science and society research. For anther, it briefly discusses the basic viewpoints of the sociology of science and the sociology of scientific knowledge, analyzes the criticisms and improves from the sociology of scientific knowledge to the sociology of science. Chapterâ…£is analyzes the relationship between technology and social and their transform in the use of the sociology of technology. It also introduces the brief views of the theory in technical dependent and the social shaping of technology, analyzes the deconstruction and development between the theories of social formation of the technical decisions. Chapterâ…¤is the improvement of the earlier chapters. The result of the study in the sociology of science and the sociology of technology is that Constructivism is the trend of the study in STS of sociology. On the basis, it leads to the rise of Constructivism and its impact on STS. The final chapter is a critical conclusion of this paper. This part gives the points that need a deeper research in the study of STS. The ultimate aim of this paper is to throw out a minnow to catch a whale. It'll provide reference for the later researchers.
