Since 1993, the volunteer program launch by the central committee of China communist youth league, so far, has been existing for 16 years. The service of volunteerism in China has spread across poverty alleviation, disaster relief, community development, environmental protection, international service and other areas and has played an active role. Volunteer service exerts its strong social function in the same time provides a wealth of material for theory study, and itself is now more in need of theoretical support of social science. However, the domestic academic research on volunteer service is still focused on social functions of volunteer service. At the individual level, there are few studies on volunteering function, especially on the effect to the volunteers. The author as myself, is a volunteer of the special action on WenChuan earthquake-relief. During the two-year voluntary service in the process, by summing up experiences and exchanges with other volunteers, the author reckon that: Volunteer service is not simply a process of life experiences, but also a social interaction process between volunteers, vulnerable groups and society. In this process, due to the changing reality, the values held by the original volunteers might update, develop, and will form new, more favorable values.This article is summarizing the results of previous studies of volunteer work with the premise of volunteer report. The first part of article is to introduce the law of value and the formation of values. Part one, which summarizes and draws some of the latest researches on value studies, is to address the theoretical basis for the formation of volunteer values. The second part is to analyze of the functions of volunteer service, but also to point out that the shortage of domestic academic research and focus on volunteer service functions on the individual level. The third part is the key of the full text to discuss how the volunteer program helped the formation of volunteers'better values. The part of discussion is based on objective impact on volunteers and the basis of personal feelings. Volunteering as an objective practice, not only provided a training for volunteers themselves, a platform for self-improvement, more importantly it provides platform to enrich the content and update the values of volunteers'values, then promotes volunteers to improve existing values and on that basis to cultivate more favorable values.
