Implicit Helpful Attitudes And Impact On Helping Behavior Of College Students

Attitude has always been the major theme of psychological research, the relationship between attitude and behavior which is also the hot topic of debate. "Attitude is everything" in the Life, but psychological research has showed that many of the consistency of attitude and behavior is not high. This contradiction has plagued many psychologists. The concept of attitudes has also been a new development and began to enter the level of implicit with the limited rationality of the proposed. We can not introspection or self-reports for research When the attitude within the implicit and automatic operation mode. Therefore, a series of indirect measurement method is adopted by the field of implicit social cognition,including the Sequential Priming Task, Implicit Association Test, emotional Stroop tasks. It's a good starting point to use implicit attitudes predict behavior for technological progress.In China, prosocial behavior has long been advocated. But in the past for pro-social behavior, mostly concentrated in the moral character of domestic research, psychology research also rare. Helping behavior as a prosocial behavior, studies have been small, and the Studies have been limited to implicit help others. The study of implicit attacks are relatively easy to find something, many of the conclusions support automation attacked tendencies of the people.College students as subjects, Research using implicit association test to help others examine the implicit helpful attitudes of individual tendency and to see people is inclined to attack or whether to help others in terms of the relative attack. In this research, the effects of implicit helpful attitude on helping behavior are examined via the methods of intergroup design and activation paradigm. In addition, the paradigm of evaluative conditioning is utilized to change the implicit attitude of subjects and two experimental techniques are enforced in the priming experiment: Study 1:Primed subliminally detecting technique, i.e. the term frequency investigation is used to find out whether or not different implicit attitudes will put different impact on the helping behaviors.Study 2:The opposite detecting technique is taken to explore the possibility that different implicit attitudes will put different impact on the helping behaviors once the implicit attitude is not primed subliminally.The research has shown that,1. People tend to help people with implicit attitude of the relative attack and the results did not show gender differences by IAT.2. Regardless of whether the implicit attitude is primed subliminally or not, it can affect and predict the following helping behavior of subjects, i. e. the positive implicit attitude enables people to demonstrate higher helping level.
