There is a large exotic population in Shanghai, the proportion of exotic population in the total permanent resident population and the importance of the role they are playing in this city are increasing continuously. Therefore, the research of the attitude held by exotic people toward the city of Shanghai has great theoretical and practical value. Such attitude will impact people's life and work directly or indirectly. This thesis analyzed the implicit attitude, the sense of belonging and their influencing factors about the problems mentioned above.We chose the students (N=66, freshmen and sophomore, not citizen of Shanghai) of the East China Normal University (ECNU) as subjects. They were separated into two groups based on the cognitive style test (thirty-three for each group). All of these 66 subjects adopted the Implicit Attitude Test (IAT) procedures and then the Interpersonal Trust Scale, the Sense of Belongings toward Shanghai Scale and the Social Support Questionnaire were adopted.The hypotheses of this research:1.the subjects of dependent/independent cognition groups show difference in the IAT toward to Shanghai.2. The Sense of Belonging related to the Social Support, the Interpersonal Trust and independent/dependent groups.3. Relations were existed between the implicit attitudes (IAT) and explicit attitudes (sense of belongings, the interpersonal trust, the social support).
