| This paper firstly describes the PCI Express architecture, interconnect attributes, fabric management, and the programming interface required to design and build systems and peripherals that are compliant with the PCI Express specification. Then, this paper introduces PCI Express to PCI/PCI-X bridge (PEXPB) architecture, interface requirements, the programming model and the construction of PEXPB verification environment. At last, this paper advances the design method of PCI Express BFM and the BFM source codes have been integrated into verification infrastructure to validate the correctness of this design method.PCI Express is the newest I/O protocol issued by Intel. The PCI Express Architecture meets all of the requirements of a third generation I/O bus. It's advanced features and scalable performance will enable it to become a unifying I/O solution across a broad range of platforms - desktop, mobile, server, communications, workstations and embedded devices. This PEXPB chip is the first bridge associated with PCI Express in China. The design tool is System C which is also the advanced design method in inland. |
