Meta - Analysis Of Clinical Efficacy Of Traditional Chinese Medicine Steam Bath In Treating Lumbar Disc Herniation

Objective:Application of Meta analysis system to evaluate the effect of fumigation theraoy with traditional Chinese medicine in combination with other therapiesins to treat lumbar disc herniation.Method:2 reviewers retrieved keywords and formulated scientific retrieval model from database including CNKI,CBM,VIP,Wan Fang. Time rang from the beginning to 2015.08. Randomized controlled experiment with fumigation theraoy with traditional Chinese medicine to treat lumbar disc herniation,and other therapies as the object of study. With the the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria, 69 studies were included. Use the “Cochrane risk of bias tool” to assess the quality of the studies and use the Rev Man5.3 software to analyze.The subgroup analysis was built depending on the use of different treatments. Observation index was selected according to the curing rates and VAS scores. Besides, funnel plot was created to analyze potential publication bias.Results: 8800 participants were included in ten trail, including 4613 patients in the trial group and 4222 patients in the control group. The results showed that the treating group with the Chinese medicinal fumigation theraoy and conventional therapy as combination was better than the control group in curing rates(OR=5.19,95%Cl:4.44,6.06).In addition, subgroups analysis show that the group using fumigation theraoy with Chinese medicine and other therapies is better in curing rates than groups using theexternal treatment alone. “Traction” subgroup(OR=6.73, 95%CI4.84,9.37);“Manipulation”subgroup(OR=4.36,95%CI2.86,6.66); “Acupuncture”subgroup(OR=5.19, 95%CI2.46,10.97);“Manipulation and Acupuncture” subgroup(OR=4.85,95%CI2.878.20). Observation index VAS score analysis shows the result(WMD=-1.26,95%CI-1.37,-1.16).The funnel graphic was almost symmetrical with low risk of bias.Conclusion: Fumigation therapy using traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation is better than other therapies. The subgroup anylasis shows that in combination of fumigation theraoy with Chinese medicine and “Traction” 、 “manipulation” 、 “acupuncture” 、“acupuncture and manipulation” is better than groups using “Traction” 、“manipulation” 、 “acupuncture” 、“acupuncture and manipulation” alone in increasing curing rates and decreasing VAS scores of patients with LDH. And more randomized controlled trials with high quality should be included to prove if herbs compound could improve the effect of treatment.
