Pavilions narrative prose is a kind of prose whose title concerns about pavilion, platform, floor, cabinet and other various buildings, in which scenery-description and a combination of discussion and expression of one’s feeling are the main content. In mid and late Tang dynastry, pavilions narrative prose has begun to take shape and quite a lot masterpieces appear. After the first movement of ancient prose in Tang dynasty and second movement in Song dynasty, ancient prose has been greatly liberated and it has become one of the most popular styles in North Song dynasty. The content and achievement of pavilions narrative prose has been promoted by scholars in North Song dynasty because of their personality in attention about reality and favor in discussion. Su Shi and Su Literati worked hard on this literary form and pour new idea and fresh thought in it, which is most representive in that period.Su Shi ans Su Literati expressed careness and willing to share joy with the mass and patriotic passion for their country under the influence of Fan Zhongyan and Ou Yangxiu. Under the complex political and social environment in North Song dynasty, literati focused on their inner desire besides pursuing sucess in officialdom, who paid special attention on mental adjustment and describe their hesitation between government and seclusion and their struggle to get rid of trouble. Su Shi and Su Literati lived with fierce combat between new and old party, and their official life were rough, thus making reclusion, intoxicated with gardens, relief-seeking and transcendental philosophy became main themes in their pavilions narrative prose.Generally speaking, Su Shi and Su Literati’s pavillions narrative prose are ingenious in the combination of memorandum, scenery-description and emotion-expression. Their articles take on various structures and avoid baldness, which enriched the pavillions narrative prose in structure. All in all, writers’ personality, prose’s natural essence and achievement are fully unfolded before readers’eyes in pavilions narrative prose by Su Shi and Su Literati, which inspired development of prose in South Song, Ming and Qing dynasty.
