There exists a special linguistic phenomenon in modern Chinese. It possesses the traits of vocabulary, but also absorb in the characteristics of phrases. Such word is called LIHECI. Its usage frequency is relatively high in daily communication, which is a indispensable learning content for foreign students who learn Chinese. Nevertheless, it is an enormous challenge for foreign students to master is owing to its diversified forms in practical usage. Therefore, the difficulty is triggered in the field of Chinese education to foreigners.This dissertation will analyze the category and cause of misunderstanding from the perspective of the discourse of foreign students. In this way, we can put forward teaching principles and teaching strategies, anticipating the improved teaching of LIHECI.My paper is divided into four sections. First of all, the issues concerning LIHECI will be introduced in detail through consulting the studies of scholars and experts, like the naming of LIHECI, the property of LIHECI, the cause of LIHECI, its sort as well as its expanding form. Next, the misunderstanding sorts of LIHECI is analyzed and summarized.Furthermore, the cause of LIHECI is figured out according to individual reason of learner and external reasons-these two aspects. Last but not least, the appropriate teaching principles and strategies are proposed.
