A Study On The Mid - Term Works

The study focuses on summarizing poetry theme and artistic features of Russianpoetess Akhmatova’s middle phase works (1917-1940) and analyzing the underlyingreasons of poetry theme changes and the constant innovation on artistic features.This study aims to fill in the gap of the lack of study on Akhmatova’s middle phaseworks in literary circles, especially in domestic literary circles, and above all it is topave the path for further study on works in Akhmatova’s late life, particularly forthose poems, ending up with the thorough study of Akhmatova’s poetry. The studywas processed mainly through the method of literature reading and comparativestudy. Due to the lack of study on Akhmatova’s middle phase works in domesticliterary circles before, the interpretation of poetry itself was placed as particularemphasis in this study, which is based on the relevant literature theory. Besides thesummary of poetry theme and artistic features of Akhmatova’s middle phase works,the comparison between middle phase and early phase, the inner connection andcontrast among the three periods in the middle phase are also involved in the study.After step-by-step exploration of the middle phase works, the study ends up with thefollowing conclusions: the theme of the middle phase works develops in both scopeand depth, the works gradually approaches to formalism in artistic features. Thereason might be found in political environment and Akhmatova’s personal life.
