Research On The Use Of Related Words In Single Sentences And Clauses

The phenomenon that conjunctive words be used in a single sentence is verycommon and distinctive.But the study of this problem at present is mainly limited tothe descriptionn of the sentence with individual conjunctive word.what’s the role ofconjunctive word in the single sentence?wether all kinds of conjunctive words playthe same role in single sentences or not?what’s the motivation and mechanism ofthe useage of conjunctive word into single sentence?All these questions need afurther research. In this paper, we will make out the syntactic characteristics、Semantic features、Pragmatic functions of the conjunctive words used in singlesentences in the view of a synchronic perspective.we also reseach the footprint ofevolution and motivition of evolution of the conjunctive word in syntactic structuresin the view of a historical perspective.All these are aimed at making this specialaggregation—conjunctive word clear,and hope to be able to prove that conjunctivewords are not unique for compound sentences.in addition,we hope our research canprovide valuable reference for Chinese teaching as a second language. in addition tothe introduction and conclusion,this paper to be divided into five parts:一、Issues related to the phenomenon of single sentence with conjunctiveword.Although the special phenomenon that the conjunctive words be used in thesingle sentence has already been generally accepted,but issues related to thisphenomenon are still up in the air:the definition of single sentence and conpoundsentence;The scope and category of conjunctive word;of the correlative with thecategory,The rationality of the single sentences with conjunctive words;the way todeal with compressed composite sentences and the complex sentence form;how todeal with the cognitive deviation caused by the ambiguity of resumptive pronouns insentences. In order to get correct result,we should at first answer all thosequestiones above.二、Function of combination and correlation of conjunction word in singlesentencesProgressive conjunctive words with its related ingredients almost can appear in any syntactic position in a sentence.But there will be some restrictions,such aslinguistic itself, context and cognitive factors.The main function of Progressiveconjuction word in a sentence is to associate two or more components together andform a joint structure.Then put this structure in the sentence.But the relationshipbetween the members of the joint structure is different from the general unionstructure:there exists progressive relationship between structure with Progressiveconjuction word,we call this effect of progressive conjunctive word in a sentence "afunction of combination and correlation".Additionally, progressive conjunctive wordsin a sentence can also focus on the subjectivity of the speaker and enhanced themodality.三、concessive conjunctive words used in single sentence：Concessiveconjunctive words in a single sentence mainly associated with a maximal quantitiesor minimal quantities.these quantities with their following narrative structures stayedin a asymmetrical state of negative meaning and affirmative meaning.the functions ofthese words is emphisis and subjective saliency and counter-expectation.四、The limiting and conjunctive function of conditional conjunctive words ina single sentence：That the conditional conjunctive word be used in the singlesentence isvery common to see.And the function of the conditional conjunctive wordnot only related to its function in conpound sentences,but also has its owncharacteristic,we call its unique role in the single sentence as “limiting andconjunctive function”.五、Motivation and mechanism of conjunctive words used in singlesentences： The most important motivation lies in the characteristic ofchinese,chinese lacks of strict morphological changes,so many words can be usedinto sentences freely.Another motivition includs the requirements of the languagestructure itself,the subjectivity,activation of context and pragmatic demands.As forthe mechanism,structural integration,analogy, foregrounding, topicalization andmetonymy need a full deliberation.
