The fairy tale is a unique literature style. Studies about fairy tales mainly come from narratology, psychology, anthropology and so on. The author notices that studies on the audience of fairy tales are relatively rare, at the same time these studies about the interpretations of fairy tales often focus on generality and integrity. This paper will use a typical text as the main research object, from the perspective of the text, the author will make a research on comparison and analysis of the fairy tale and will pay attention to the audience of fairy tales at all times, pay attention to the effects on children’s literary works because of the changes of the audience, and explore the links between the turning of children’s literature and the audience. This kind of interpretation is to provide another method to study the evolution of western children’s literature, and also provide a prossibility for the direction of children’s literature.According to the above-mentioned research methods and ideas, the first part is the introduction which discusses the reality and value of fairy tales and makes a literature review on researches of fairy tales. The second part is the formal discussion which studies how the concept of the fairy tale produced and its social background, and discusses the links between the origin of fairy tales and epic, myth, archaic thought previous this background. And then this part discusses the forms of fairy tales and characteristics of fairy tales in this period after the concept "Children", and pays attention to the changes of the audience from myth to fairy tale. The third part of the article will take Wilde’s fairy tales as the main research object, study the text, and discuss the differences between Wilde’s fairy tales and previous fairy tales, especially make a comparison with Andersen’s fairy tales. Through a series of comparisons, the paper has a further analysis on fairy tales, looks for the secrets and the characteristics behind the golden age of children’s literature, as well as the changes of the audience of children’s literature in this period, and traces the origin of the concept "the mannish of children". The fourth part has a analysis of contemporary children’s literarature, discusses its characteristics and the sense about the real reconstruction and contemporary value, makes a full discussion on the connotation of "the mannish of children". The conclusive part is to reiterate the statements and views of this research process.From the perspective of the audience, it is extremely rare of making a research through the comparison with a single text. This article intends to sort out the developmental theme of western children’s literature. From small adults to children, to the mannish of children, the evolution of Western children’s literature is the concern of people, and also provides a possible direction for the future development of children’s literature.
